Hi there, I'm Bryana! My goal as an Associate Therapist at Harlowe Counseling is to provide an affirming, nonjudgmental environment where you can safely explore the things most important to you. Together, we can work on shifting the question "what's wrong with me?" into conversations honoring what has made you who you are today and discovering how you want to show up in the world. You are a whole person - not just a sum of symptoms.
I view therapy through a collaborative, authentic, and trauma-informed lens. Healing is not one-size-fits-all, so I draw from multiple approaches to best suit your personal needs. I often use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support clients in building a life that aligns with their values. Because trauma and emotional distress is often stored in the body, I use tools from somatic therapies to help foster the mind-body connection. I also utilize techniques from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when appropriate.
A typical session with me is about an hour long, either in-person or virtually via SimplePractice. The first few sessions focus on getting to know your goals and what makes you who you are.
Because you are the expert on your own life, I am flexible and will allow you to guide sessions in a way that feels most healing and aligned with your goals. I show up to each session authentically, because sharing parts of yourself with a stranger can feel vulnerable and nerve-racking.
I recognize that healing is not linear, and meaningful growth happens when you have the autonomy to move at a pace that feels manageable and authentic.
I help clients move away from shame and more toward an understanding relationship with themselves.
I understand that past experiences impact emotions, relationships, coping patterns, and self-perception.
I believe you are the expert in your own experiences and values.
I encourage clients to reconnect with who they are outside of masking, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or external expectations.
